Cider Apples in America: From Plymouth to Prohibition. A seminar by David Zakalik.

For the last Horticulture seminar of the Fall 2021 semester, David Zakalik shared some of his findings on the history of cider apples in the United States. This entertaining and well-researched talk presents the story of cider apple production from before the arrival of Europeans to North America to the present day. I hope you enjoy David’s talk as much as I did.

Errata: 1) in the slide on indigenous Malus species the reference should be “floribunda” not ”angustifolia” ; 2) It was Giovanni de Verrazzano, not Giacommo
